Quartz Countertop FAQ

Everything you need to know before choosing your slab.

Is quartz heat resistant?

Quartz is highly heat resistant but not heat-proof. While it can withstand moderate temperatures, we always recommend using trivets for hot pans to protect the resin binders from thermal shock.
Quartz is non-porous and never requires sealing. Simply clean the surface with mild soap and water to keep it looking new for decades. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can dull the finish.
No, quartz is one of the most stain-resistant surfaces available. Because it is engineered to be non-porous, liquids like wine, coffee, or oil cannot penetrate the surface, making it much more durable than marble or granite.
We do not recommend quartz for outdoor use in Massachusetts. The resin used in quartz countertops can yellow or fade when exposed to direct UV rays and the harsh New England freeze-thaw cycles.
The cost of quartz depends on the brand, color, and complexity of the project. However, by buying direct from Costa’s Stone, you eliminate retail markups, ensuring premium quality at a much more competitive price point than big-box stores.
